1. Sunbathing
2. Wind-surfing
3. Mountain climbing
4. Going for long walks in the balmy sun.

Why? Why did I leave warm and sunny Britain for this? *sigh*
Things I have been doing…
1. Writing lots of patterns
2. Knitting a Faroese shawl
3. Spinning. Lots.
4. Wearing kick-ass jewellery from Etsy - pics when there is decent light!
Have been writing today, so nothing that I can show you. More spinning shots when the yarn has dried, and there is, you know, decent light.

Finally I’ve finished for the day. I’m knackered.. it’s hit me all at once. So all I have for you (wow, that’s becoming a recurring theme… get used to it!) is:
A project peek:

In which I am too tired to take a better pic
And three links:
I’m not the only one that’s gone on a pink and green stint.
And a new yarn from Rowan/Kaffe Fassett - looks interesting! I’d love to see the other colourways, but too tired to go hunting.
Night all, have a good one!

One of the things I do to perk myself up when I get into a bit of a funk, is to browse the internet for colour. I thought I would share a few good places for colour pick-me-ups.
Yet again, pink and green are dominating my colour sense…
Kris is an artist and fashion designer based in Italy, she has a great blog called Kris’s Color Stripes. Recently she had a some gorgeous pink and green based posts… such as this one from July the 10th

… also, check out the olive based one on June the 26th. Maybe one day I’ll be able to take such great photos!
A good site to use if you want to make palettes from photos is Colourlovers.com, or you can just mash up random colours, and play with the pattern maker.

Of course there is always Etsy to browse, but that can of course seriously endanger your bank balance! No pictures, as I don’t have permission, and no recommendations, as I’ve never bought from any of them - although I’m sure they’re all good sellers. They’re just things that caught my Magpie Eye!

A statue of local boy Tróndur was unveiled in Norðragøta (the town where I live when I’m in the Faroes) on Saturday. He is sort of the father figure for Republicans here in the Faroes (not like American Republicanism - here they’re still pushing for independence from Denmark). This is of little general interest to you gentle reader, I realise that.
BUT.
It meant that I could take pictures of Faroese people (well, more specifically their clothing) without looking like a complete tourist-foreigner-dork! Ok, quick reality check, I was wearing a trench coat and a purple beret, and am about half a foot taller than the average Faroese woman, I may still have stood out a little. BUT lots of people were taking photos, so at least in that regard I didn’t stand out.
Here we go… click to go to the flickr page to see it at a larger size, and some random notes I may have added. Yes, they are mainly of peoples backs… gotta be covert about thing, haven’t I?!
First some National costume…

And on to the knitwear…

There are a few more at my flickr page. Hope you enjoyed that! I’m off to do more pattern writing and admin work… booo! Bring on the knitting!

Two knitting related ones…
Nothing to show as I’ve been doing RTW all day…have a nice weekend all.

I got offered another RTW commission as soon as I got back, to be finished this week, so I haven’t been doing much else than machine knit, and also spin - not the Loop stuff, but more of Jen’s purple streaky merino. No pictures as it looks just the same as the stuff. Well, it will once I’ve plied it and washed it.
So all I have for you today is a bit of a link dump of allsorts (not the liquorice kind, bleargh)… some of these links have been sitting around for a bit, for example I wanted to point you to Blanket magazine since the start of June.
In their own words “Blanket is a free PDF art + design + photography magazine that is released bi-monthly. It is aimed at uncovering new, emerging talent from around the world.” It’s nice to ‘flick’ through (click through, I suppose) while having a break. It features a wide variety of different areas (hence ‘blanket’). This issue (number 10) has knitting on the front cover!
New-to-me webcomic Savage Chickens made me chortle. It will join the ranks of DAR: A Super Girly Top Secret Webcomic, OoTS, Questionable Content (stay with it, the drawing gets tons better), and Orneryboy as my favourite webcomics.
